Hello this is Alena from StressFreeEventPlanning.com.  And as promised, I'm going to show you just how easy it is to do a mind map. Now I'm going to give a fake example. But it is appropriate for what we're going to do today.

Scenario: Let's say I am a new employee at a cat food company. And the boss wants us to come up with some creative ideas for the brand. And he wants those ideas by tomorrow. This is the perfect way to come up with ideas for an event. Okay, so let's get started.

And we will start here.

Using free association. I'm just going to put in some words here that will get me to come up with some ideas came up with an award show.

That might be the best way to highlight the brand. I do know that in New York, there is a cat and dog festival. So I think New York would probably be the most ideal place to have this and so just thinking about some categories like Most Adorable, Odd Couple and Influencer of the Year.

And I'm gonna stop there for now.

In this mind map, you can see that right now nothing is connected so I'm going to go back to the beginning I'm just going to place this wherever I'd like to.

I’ll place cat videos under cats, then cat videos and then awards show. In award shows you have categories, like, the most adorable, the odd couple and videos that showed where cats lost one life.

As of now, I don't really have a place to put the VIP party. So I'm just gonna leave that off to the side. But this gives you kind of an idea of what's going on in my brain.

So you can see the whole map, as of now, and this gives you an idea of what I'm thinking, where I'm going, and it's a good place to stop. Now that you have the idea in your head that you can formulate it little bit more. The idea is that the cat food company could be the founding sponsor of an award show, highlighting cats and your brand is front and center.

You can take this idea to your boss and if he or she likes it, then maybe you can break this down some more. But this just really quick way to formulate an idea and then you can from there you can make this even more intense where you can actually create tasks from different topics.

So this is just a quick little thing that I wanted to show you how easy mind maps are to create. This mind map was done in Bubbl.us and it’s one the maps I mentioned in my list of free mind maps from an earlier blog post, you can check out here.
