Are You in the House Because of the Coronavirus?

I Have the Perfect Thing for You To Do!

Watching TV learning a new recipe

We are living in a time when we are in the house more than we are used to. Besides watching TV, trying out a new recipe, or getting some well deserved sleep — there’s one thing we really need to do. We need to plan!

I’m sure there was a time when you’ve said to yourself — “If I had time I would do [fill-in-the-blank].” Well, now is the perfect time!

The first step is to create that idea. So if you didn’t do so already, go ahead and fill in that blank from above. After filling in the blank, go ahead and visualize your idea to see what it looks like.

The next step is to plan it. Ask yourself -

  • Why do I want to do this?
  • What is the first thing I need to do to make this work?
  • What else do I need to do?

Keep asking yourself that last question until you run out of ideas

You should now have a list of tasks you will need to do. The next step is to go back over every item on that list and not only put a deadline date, but also add the time of when it will be finished. For instance, one item on my list is to research a power recliner sofa. If I just wrote this down, I’m sure it would get done at some point. But by putting a date of when it will get done AND adding a specific time, it will make my task more realistic.

So when you’re done, you have not only planned your idea, but you have created an action plan! By creating the action plan, you are taking something that was just a dream and making it real.

Do you have other ideas? If so, go ahead and go over the same steps again.

Think of this crazy situation we’re in as an opportunity. An opportunity to plan what you will do when this crisis is over. Because this too shall pass. And when it does you’ll have an action plan.

If Shakespeare could write King Lear while in quarantine, then we can plan what we want to do when “the Rona” isn’t top of mind anymore. But you’ve already planned for that, right?

Sometimes quotes help. For instance, I post quotes about planning every Tuesday on Instagram and Pinterest. Perhaps one of them will provide inspiration for you.
